COVID-19 Club Announcement

In order to adhere to guidelines put out by the Canadian government and the CGAA, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all club related events for the time being due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many sporting events have already been postponed or cancelled across the province. The ISSC's St. Patrick's Day Tournament that was due to be held on March 21st was cancelled and the Vancouver Spring League postponed.

As you know, the McNamara Cup is the Van Isle Rovers’ signature tournament and was scheduled to take place May 16th & 17th, 2020 at Topaz Park in Victoria, B.C. Unfortunately, like many events taking place this spring and summer, there has been an air of uncertainty about the Victoria Highland Games since the COVID-19 pandemic began. It was decided on Friday March 20th that the games will be postponed until late summer.

From the Victoria Highland Games Association: “Due to the Public Health Order banning all gatherings greater than 50 people until May 30, the 157th Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival is being postponed until late summer. Full refunds will be provided for all advance purchases and registrations to the Highland Games events scheduled for May 16 and 17 at Topaz Park. Further details on the rescheduled festival including location, dates and schedule of events will be available by June.”

We will do our best to ensure our players and fans are kept up to date as this situation unfolds. Please follow the advice of BC's Medical Professionals and their protocols to help protect the most vulnerable members of our community. If any of our members have any questions or need any assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for the support of our club in its inaugural season, and happy belated St. Patrick's Day. We hope that these measures will help to protect our community, and that we'll be playing with you all soon. Van Isle Rovers Abú!
